Be Careful With Your Words, Especially Among The World
I. Introduction:
A. When around saints, our brethren, we are around citizens of the kingdom of our Lord (Ephesians 2:19, Colossians 1:12-13, and Hebrews 12:22-29; cf. John 18:36).
- As such, we walk by the same system of faith, thinking, law, etc. (Philippians 2:2, Philippians 3:16, and Philippians 4:1-3).
- When we are among those outside of the kingdom, we are among those who walk according to a different rule of law that we have chosen to leave behind (Ephesians 2:1-3).
- Even if I err, the first response of my brethren is restoration (Galatians 6:1-2 and James 5:19-20).
- However, among the wicked, there is a caution (Psalms 39:1 and Amos 5:12-13).
II. Body: Colossians 4:5-6
A. The fighting the losing battle reality (Matthew 5:25-26).
- Who is watching (Psalms 37:32)?
- How far will they go (Luke 20:20)? At work, school, etc. Wherever someone might gain if you lose.
- Don’t let it run loose (Proverbs 10:19, Proverbs 13:3, Proverbs 21:23, and James 1:26).
- Think before we speak (Proverbs 15:28).
- They will reshape words (Psalms 56:5-6; cf. John 2:19-21 and Matthew 26:59-61).
- They will raise false assumptions (Acts 21:27-31).
III. Conclusion: Proverbs 17:27-28 and Proverbs 29:11
